Hit a homerun this baseball season with your favorite team as Athens Regional Medical Center (ARMC) hosts two April blood drives.* The first will be held on Thursday, April 5th from 7:15 am to 6:15 pm and the second on Thursday, April 12th from 12 noon to 6:00 pm. So step up to the plate and take a swing at giving blood!
The American Red Cross is in extreme need for blood this season. Every year more than 4 million people require blood transfusions, in many cases to save their lives, and the only sources of blood for these individuals in need are healthy volunteers who donate. By giving less than an hour of time and only one pint of blood, anyone can save up to three lives, including those that have been affected by cancer, anemia, accidents and many other illnesses.
As a thank you, all donors will receive food, coupons, and a chance to win door prizes and other raffle items! Gigi’s is donating cupcakes and door prizes include two tickets to the UGA vs. Furman baseball game on April 17th, and two tickets to see the Gwinnett Braves play the Charlotte Knights on April 26th.
While many of the regular donors at Athens Regional drives are hospital employees, people in the Athens area are encouraged to come and support this cause as well. To donate, a person must be 17 years of age or older and weigh at least 110 pounds. Volunteers should get a full night’s sleep, eat a well-balanced meal and drink extra fluids before donating. Donors also must bring a photo I.D. Walk-ins are always welcome but you can make an appointment today to reduce wait time. We encourage all eligible donors to come out and hit a homerun by donating blood and saving lives!
Both blood drives will be held on the 3rd floor of the Medical Services Building on King Avenue. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call the Corporate Communications interns at 706-475-3306. Don’t strikeout, sign up today!
