We are currently seeking undergraduate or graduate students who are interested in spending time this summer learning about various aspects of the bookselling business. We do not offer college credit for these internships, but we can offer valuable experience and will be happy to write recommendation letters for interns who meet or exceed our expectations. The duration of the internship is May 14 - August 3, 2012, 6-10 hours/week.

Positions Available:

Marketing/PR intern (need 1)

Assist Rachel Watkins in Marketing/Public Relations for store events. Requirement: must demonstrate proficiency in PhotoShop. Tasks may include but are not limited to:

●      social media marketing

●      gather information for press releases

●      write press releases

●      create Facebook events

●      create Athens Patch events

Events Intern (need 1)

Assist Rachel Watkins and Janet Geddis before, during, and after in-store and off-site events. Tasks will include:

●      arrange seating and bookshelves

●      set up book/item displays

●      display food and beverages for certain events

●      arrange for any necessary audio-visual equipment setup prior to the event

Children’s Section Intern (need 1)

●      Choose books and read them aloud for story time

1. Thursdays at 10:30 AM
2. Saturday at 1:00 PM
3. first Wednesday of each month at 11 AM at Arrow Space for Families
4. Second Wednesday of each month at 4 PM at Full Bloom Pregnancy & Early Parenting Center

●      alphabetize books

●      write reviews/shelf talkers for in-store and online displays

General Bookshop Intern (need 1)

●      alphabetize books & organize front room shelving

●      write reviews/shelf talkers for in-store displays

●      set up book/item displays

●      post fliers for upcoming events, etc. around Athens
