UGA College of Education Faculty Honored
Five UGA College of Education faculty members were recently honored for their work by the American Education Research Association
Donna Alverman, Allan Cohen, Cynthia Dillard, Peter Smagorinsky and Jonathan Templin were recognized at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association held in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Alvermann was named a 2012 Fellow of the AERA in recognition of her scientific and scholarly contributions to education research.
Cohen received the 2012 Award for Career Contributions to Educational Measurement from the National Council on Measurement in Education.
Dillard, who joined the UGA faculty in January, was presented with the 2012 Distinguished Contributions to Gender Equity in Education Research Award.
Smagorinsky was named recipient of the 2012 Sylvia Scribner Award given for work by a Division C member who influences thinking and research in the field of learning and instruction. Smagorinsky also received the Outstanding Reviewer for 2012.
Templin was given the 2012 Significant Contribution to Research Methodology Award for his book, Diagnostic Measurement: Theory, Methods and Applications. Templin is an associate professor i the department of educational psychology and instructional technology.
