Don’t forget: the Town & Gown Players are staging “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” this week, June 14 to 17. You can call for reservations, and you should. It’s hilarious. This isn’t what typically passes for community theatre—these folks are professionals, with the voices and the timing to prove it. Having seen the play once, I feel compelled to see it again. Think about tickets for Father's Day!
Speaking of Town & Gown, they are holding auditions for “Lysistrata” today and Tuesday at the Athens Community Playhouse on Grady Avenue, beginning at 7pm. The director, Rick Rose, will decide how the auditions are conducted. Stay loose.
Don’t let the rain dampen your spirit or your plans. The Sunflower Music Series begins tomorrow night at the State Botanical Garden with Randall Bramblett and Whisper Kiss. The show runs from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are $15 for the public, $10 for members and $5 for children under 12.
Couldn’t you use a big dose of the Hobohemians? I sure could. Wish they were playing someplace soon.
If you’re not busy on Wednesday, head to the Globe at 7pm for Rabbit Box, two hours of story telling by local folks. The stories should be true, and should last no more than eight minutes. The theme they should follow is “The School of Hard Knocks.” A donation of 1 penny to $5 is suggested, but not demanded. But hey, donate something, don’t be a schlump.
