Concern about Latino Students Leads to Film Project
Friends in the UGA College of Education team up on video.
Two doctoral candidates in the found they shared a common interest—the welfare of Latinos.
Together, Tobie Bass and Lindy Johnson, who are in the program for language and literacy education, have created a three-minute video to raise awareness of the plight of undocumented students in Georgia.
By using images, they hope to show why people should rethink their opinions.

Included in the video are footage and photos they shot at a rally in Atlanta last week.
“It’s not so strongly opinionated,” said Bass. “We leave it open for people to interpret in their own way.”

The Board of Regents prohibits undocumented students from attending UGA, Ga. Tech, Georgia State, the Georgia Health Sciences University or Georgia College and State University. .
Today, the House Committee on Higher Education will consider House Bill 59, which bans undocumented students from all public colleges in Georgia.
