Costumes Make Exercising Fun
Let Jittery Joe's and Habitat for Humanity Help!
Some people dread exercise of any kind, but we know we have to do it to stay healthy. So, why not add an element of fun? Isn't that why Zumba has been all the rage lately? Dancing is generally fun if you don't worry about winning a contest.
What will make a bike ride more fun? Costumes, of course. Having shared a bedroom growing up with a grandmother who dressed up for any and all occasions, I come by my love of dress up naturally. Get your riding crew to dress up with you. It doesn't have to be a sponsored contest or Halloween. It makes the ride more fun for everyone as you pedal along.
Use the 4th Annual Jittery Joes Fall Classic on October 15th to create the fun. Yes, the ride can be difficult for newbies but you can sign up and go as far as your legs will take you. I take that back, go ½ as far as your legs will take you and turn around. Not to worry. Just strive for your personal best and enjoy wearing a costume.
The ride is a fundraiser for Athens Area Habitat for Humanity so you'll feel good about joining in the cause. The ride starts and ends at Terrapin Brewery, 265 Newton Bridge Road, and winds through Clarke County. Officially, it is a metric century ride, with two course options, 62 miles and 31 miles, as well as a 6-mile family-fun ride. If you think 10 or 15 miles is as far as you can go this time, it won't be a problem to end the ride early. You'll just join the family festival early.
Register online. Plan to be ready to ride by 10 AM; good luck and have some fun!
