Crime Blotter--arrests and a burglary

The information in this story comes from the ACC Police Department. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

Around 2:35am on February 5, officers responded to a complaint of two suspicious persons at an old mill on Bryan Street. The first officer to arrive found a book bag containing hand tools. Next to the book bag was a large amount of coiled up wire.   The officer had contact with a male who was hiding and he detained him. Other officers arrived and located a second male who was also detained. After being questioned, both 16-year olds were taken into custody and charged with Burglary and Possession of Tools – Burglary Only.  They were taken to the Sheriff’s Office for transport to YDC.

Officers responded to a domestic dispute at a Barrington Drive residence around 12:10am on  February 6.  A woman said the offender, Sherwin Lorenzo Howard, grabbed her and struck her about her face and head.  He had a knife and, at one point, held it as if he was going to stab her.  He also cut her on the side of her neck with an eyebrow pencil sharpener.  The woman said the offender also grabbed her and slammed her head into the wall, causing a hole in the wall.  She was also thrown to the floor and stomped and kicked.  When she told him she was calling the police, he left.  Later on, officers had contact with Howard, 36, and he was arrested.  He was charged with Aggravated Assault, Battery, Cruelty to Children, and Criminal Trespass to Property.
