Crime Blotter--stealing and drugs

A woman reported that when she returned to her home at Spring Court, she found her front door open and a JVC Stereo missing. She said while she was at the hospital she received a call saying her neighbor Greta Smith had broken into her apartment. Officers made contact with Smith and while talking to her saw the victim’s stereo in Smith’s apartment. Smith was charged with burglary.

A man reported a theft that occurred on February 24th at his Jane Circle home. The man said the suspect took $700 in currency, a revolver and several old coins valued at $100. A suspect was named in the report.

Around 2:25am on February 27. an officer on patrol saw a vehicle being driven without an operative tag light. Before the officer could make a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver  pulled into the parking lot of St. Mary’s Hospital on Baxter Street. The passenger went in the emergency room but exited within a few minutes. He spoke with the driver and he, too, exited the vehicle and went in the ER. The officer looked in the vehicle and saw a small bag that contained what appeared to be a white powder. He also saw a digital scale.  While waiting for back up, the driver exited the ER. As the officer talked with him, he asked for, and was granted, permission to search the vehicle. The white powder was recovered and field tested positive for amphetamines. Alan Derrick Lowery, 21, New Haven Church Rd, Danielsville, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule I/II Substance. The passenger was not charged.  

Between 9pm on February 1 and 11am on February 26, a Freeman Drive residence was burglarized. Nothing is known missing.
