Fresh Market Prospers Past First Week in Athens, Ga.
The new Fresh Market, which opened Oct. 10, is moving forward into their second week and reports positive feedback from the community so far.
Management at The Fresh Market, which opened their new location in Athens on Oct. 10, have reported positive community feedback and high traffic after their first week.
Scott Thomson, store manager at The Fresh Market, said Athens has been supportive of the grocery store.
"Everything's been going great," Thomson said. "We've received a lot of encouraging feedback from the community so far."
The store, which began out of North Carolina, sells meats and cheeses, fresh produce and baked goods, along with other specialty products. It offers local foods and also partners with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
Thomson said he couldn't release profits or the number of customers for the first week, but said the store has been prosperous since its opening.
"We've been very busy so far with the first couple of weeks, and everything's been very positive," he said.
Have you shopped at the Fresh Market? What do you think? Tell us in the comments.

Very nice, although some prices were high, but I'll be back to shop there. I do miss Borders so much, but this is a nice way to fill that space.

Great customer service but awful management. A manager named Scott blatantly scolded an employee in a very unprofessional way right in front of me. I won't be coming back

This store, is a far cry from the original concept. This is not an open air type of friendly atmosphere. Its overall market growth wont sustain in this broke, under educated boring city of Athens, Georgia. Bad corporate move. It will continue to lose market value, and become what it is run, and trained by, inept idiots. Same as in all Athens groceries, and restaurants. The majority are college people with no desire to be better or achieve more, and have nothing better to do than be a pain in the ass. Get a real job on your own time and be a loser to yourself. Essentially, very poor educated group of jerks with no manners or genuine thought or action. Too bad people are so worthless today in how they treat others.
