Hit-and-Run Victim Remains in Grave Condition at ARMC in Athens, Ga.

Emily Bowman is fighting for her life after she sustained brain injuries early Saturday morning.

Emily Bowman, 19, remains in a coma and on a ventilator at Athens Regional Medical Condition. Her father Dale Bowman has remained with her around the clock, since he learned early Saturday morning that his daughter had been in a hit-and-run accident on Oak Street and was severely injured.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, Dale Bowman has been sleeping on a couch in the intensive care waiting room. He told the newspaper that the swelling and bleeding in his daughter's brain had subsided.

Emily was walking with a friend on the grassy shoulder of Oak Street around 3am on Saturday, after going to a friend's birthday party. Emily is a student at Kennesaw State and came to Athens to attend the party. A red pickup truck, heading in the same direction, jumped the curb and hit Emily.

Police officers have said they know who holds the truck's registration: a 22-year-old man from Cartersville. The newspaper story says the police are building a case against him that will result in felony charges.

Why do none of the statements say that was ACTUALLY HAPPENED was she stumbled drunk into the road and was hit? Whoever lied and said that man jumped to curve shame on you! That does NOT mean leaving the scene was right, but you people don't know the true story, possibly not even her parents. This accident was both the victim and drivers fault.

Karen, if you were there, and were a witness, and saw what happened, perhaps you should tell the police. The witnesses at the scene described a car leaving the road, then correcting to get back in the road hitting Miss Bowman, who was walking on the grass, not in the road. The police believe they have evidence showing the path of the truck.....
