How Many Helene Schwartzes Are There?
Luncheon planned to honor tireless volunteer Helene Schwartz in Athens, Ga.
Think of a non-profit in Athens. Here are a few:
The American Heart Association, the PTA, the Foundation for Excellence in Education, the Clarke County Mentor Program, the American Red Cross. The Women in Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce. The Youth Leadership Athens Steering Committee.
Over the years, Helene Schwartz has been involved with all of them, often as president. While holding a full-time job as director of the Athens Regional Foundation, she has served two terms as President of Georgia Association for Development Professionals of the Georgia Hospital Association.
She is also vice president of the Athens Jewish Film Festival. She has served as president and membership chair of Congregation Children of Israel (CCI), as well as of Temple Sisterhood.
Her awards include the Eric Mendel Distinguished Service Award at CCI, and for work on the ARMC Breast Health Center, the "Real People, Real Miracles" Award from Hadassah, the largest women's volunteer organization in America, of which she is a member.
On Sunday, August 26, there's going to a fund-raising luncheon to honor and celebreate Helene and her many accomplishments. The money will help pay for projects of Athens Hadassah. The giving levels are as follows: Sara $250, Rebecca $100, Rachel $50, and Leah $36. Please make your reservations by Aug 19. For reservations contact Marsha Rosenthal via email.
