Legion Pool Opens for Another Season of Summertime Fun in Athens

The pool is open from 11:30 a.m.-7 p.m. daily through July 31, and 2-7 p.m. Aug. 1-8.

Families and students gathered Thursday, May 23,  for the first dip of the season in Legion Pool, a sure sign that summer is right around the corner in Athens.

UGA officials' consideration last year to close the historic pool and build a smaller one off East Campus Road for faculty, students and staff was met with protests, and ultimately the pool survived to see another summer.

Its future is still unclear, however, as UGA president-to-be Jere Morehead hasn't yet commented on the issue, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.
