Movie Crew Shooting in Athens on Wednesday and Thursday

Change your plans if you're coming downtown in the late afternoon or evening.

 

Several Athens streets will be closed off on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons evenings so a film crew can work there.

Police Officer Derek Scott, who works downtown, said the police weren’t given much advance notice that the crew of “Trouble With the Curve,” starring Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams, John Goodman and Justin Timberlake, would be in town. Six to ten officers have been hired to provide security.

According to several movie preview websites, the movie is about an aging baseball scout whose eyesight is failing. He takes his daughter on a final scouting trip to Georgia.

Scenes will be shot on Wednesday in , a popular bar and restaurant on the corner of Clayton and Lumpkin, Scott said. On Thursday evening, crews will be shooting outside on College, Clayton and Jackson streets.

Officials with the said the movie crew has rented parking spaces in the Washington Street deck for the day, which is good.
