Unknown Person Tries to Set Athens Woman's Car On Fire

An unknown person attempted to set an Athens woman's car on fire on Friday, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report.Β 

The woman told police that while she was at her boyfriend's apartment on 2300 block of West Broad Street, a person tried to light her car on fire with a towel.Β 

Police found two pieces of a white towel or cloth near the woman's car, one on the ground and one in the open fuel tank. Both pieces had been recently charred.

The woman told police that she suspected her boyfriend's recent ex-girlfriend may have attempted the arson. The investigation is ongoing.Β
