What Is Your Valentine's Day Tradition?

Is it a time for a romantic dinner for two or just another day of the week?

Happy Valentine's Day!

The history of the Feb. 14 holiday is a long and complicated one linked to Christian and Roman traditions, according to History.com.

"In addition to the United States, Valentine's Day is celebrated in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France and Australia," the website says. The American tradition of exchanging hand-made valentines likely began in the early 1700s.

So what's your plan for today? The traditional flowers, candy, jewelry or romantic dinner out? Do you think more creatively than that, or do you shun the holiday altogether?

Do you have a tradition that you've followed since the very first time you realized that Cupid's arrow had struck? How will you be celebrating Valentine's Day?

My mother used to sneak into our rooms early in the morning and leave me and my sisters a carnation in a vase, a small box of candy and a card. :-)
