Where in Athens, Ga., Is This And What Is It?

Yes, it's a big hole in the ground, but why is it here?

This is a big hole for a big project. But where is it? And what is it going to be? It's in one of the most rapidly changing parts of Athens, and it's costing more money than you can shake a piece of rebar at. If you know where and what it is, please tell us in the comments.

Maybe the big ol' monster project over on Epps Bridge Pkwy, where they'll be putting in MORE stores or a mall or something else hideous that we DON'T need. Why else did they put in that ramp (from the loop) to the Oconee Connector? I think it's for the anticipated traffic to & from those (future) stores....just sayin'....

People in Oconee County, at least the county commission, believe they need the mall they are going to put in there...it will generate millions in sale tax revenues. It's going to be an "open air" mall, with separate entrances for each store. Might not be too good in the rain! will have to wait and see....

I agree with Ginny - It does look like the expansion of my beloved Emmanuel Episcopal Church. So exciting. Annette Mitchell
