Woman Wrecks Car but Keeps Talking On Cell Phone

Police say the 20 year old woman was talking away, upside down, in her wrecked car.

One minute Kristin Suzanne Simmons was talking on her cell phone as she was driving on the Athens Perimeter. The next, her car was flipping. But even upside down, she kept on talking, witnesses said.

According to a story in the Athens Banner Herald, the one-car accident happened Wednesday night on the Perimeter near the Oconee Street exit around 8:45pm.

Simmons's breath smelled like alcohol, the story said, and presciption pills were found in her car. Police took a blood sample from her to be tested.

Simmons was taken to the Clarke County Jail early Thursday morning and booked on charges of DUI, misuse of a mobile phone while driving, failure to maintain lane and underage consumption of alcohol, the Banner Herald said.

She later posted an $8,500 bond and was released.
