Well, I come to you today after *almost* losing my 4-month-old Shih Tzu puppy whom I've grown to love like a 3rd child. I have 2 large dogs and a cat as well as 2 young children, so I'll go ahead and say it: my house is a zoo. The string of events today while searching for her had me thinking... am I one of THOSE people who treats her animals like family?
Well, I don't dress them, and they don't eat table food... but by golly, I was pretty upset that I couldn't find my sweetheart of a 5 pound bunny-in-dog-clothes pooch. Then I remembered, one of the criteria for my husband and me in buying this house was the ability to fence in the yard. One of our most basic criteria for the MOST EXPENSIVE purchase we've ever made, was for our dogs. When we moved in, we had the back yard fenced within 30 days. In comparison, we intended to fence off another portion of the yard just for our children to play without the "bombs" left by the larger dogs, and our oldest is now 2.5 years old and we have yet to section off her portion of the yard.
So I want to ask you readers: was your criteria for your current or future home(s) based on your pets? I want to know! Was it the yard? A specific extra bedroom or space? Something more? Did you get a pool for your pets?
