I am a dog lover and am so thankful for our two terriers and the joy they give us! Last night, I got a call from a friend who could not save her little bishon, Tashi, from the jaws of a neighbor's pit bull mix. My friend did not even think of her own safety and desperately tried to free her little dog from the pit bull's jaws with no luck.
Tashi was well within the boundaries of her own yard, my friend has lost her best friend of 12 years. The neighbor did not come out and try to contain their dog, when my hysterical friend carried Tashi over their house to show them what their dog did to her dog, their response was to tell her not to be so emotional! It wasn't their fault that their dog jumped out the window (no screen). This dog attacked her other dog last spring, but Oglethorpe County couldn't do anything about it. There are no leash laws in Oglethorpe County.
Hopefully, the state laws will have this dog removed from his owners and be put to sleep! Maybe, Tashi's death might save a neighbor's child. My heart goes out to my friend tonight.

Thanks to everyone whe expressed sympathy for Tashi, It is unfortunate that some folks take on the responsibility of a dog and neglect to train it, exercise it, and socialize it.
Apparently, these folks have had to have a previous dog euthanized for biting their own child. This evening the pit bull who killed Tashi was taken away to meet the same fate....
I would hope their insurance company wi
ll demand that they turn their other two dogs over to proper homes to avoid future liability that can occur when dogs aren't properly cared for.
If anyone knows of a bishon or a similar small dog that is in need of a home, my friend and her other dog, Elsie, would like to adopt another pet as soon as possible
