Review of Ernest Hemingway’s
For Whom The Bell Tolls
Truth, The Light In The Darkness
This book was a terrific read. It was extremely descriptive and placed one firmly in
the mountains of Spain as the fascists rained bullets down on a wide variety of
partisans struggling to make a difference, maintain their beliefs, and, above
all, stay alive in the process. Robert Jordan, the main character, is bold and
brave, but seems to spend a little too much time talking to himself, which is a
little distracting. Pilar is one of the most well written characters in history. Both convey deep insights into the truths and lies of war.
