An Athens couple told police on Monday that as they arrived at their Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway home around 12:30 a.m., they saw someone jump out of a window and run behind a neighbor’s house. They entered the home and realized it had been burglarized, though nothing appeared to be missing, according to a police report. The man told officers he looked out and saw two subjects in dark clothing run across the street, enter a vehicle, possibly an SUV, and flee  toward College Avenue.   A young man will be tried as an adult--he was 16 years old at the time he's accused of entering an elderly man's home on Jefferson River Road and participating in the 76-year-old's shooting death. According to a story in the Athens Banner-Herald, a judge made the decision at a hearing this week. Anthony Jermaine Fuller, now 17, is charged with the Nov. 26, 2012, murder of Edward Davidson.  He was being held at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center. Over $3,000 worth of damage was done to a vacant house on Massey Lane last fall, according to an Athens-Clarke County Police report.The house, owned by a bank, was burglarized sometime between October 31 and November 21, but the incident wasn't reported to police until Feb. 12.Walls were damaged and plumbing and the HVAC were stolen.In other news, police were called to investigate a burglary on Sayemore Drive that occurred sometime between 5 p.m. on Feb. 11 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 12. A UGA student told Athens-Clarke County police officers he was the victim of a robbery and a beating late Sunday night. According to a police report, the student said the incident happened when he was leaving a convenience store at Prince Avenue and Barber Street around 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 10. He recalled hearing someone say, “Hey,” and as he turned, he says he was tackled to the ground. The alleged victim believes that while he was on the ground, two men went through his pockets and removed his wallet which contained identification, a debit card, and maybe $1, the police report says. Athens-Clarke County police responded to a burglary in progress at the Airport Minit Market on Winterville Road early Monday morning. A caller reported having heard a loud banging coming from the back of the business. As an officer looked behind the building, he saw a man with something in his hand, police said. When the officer illuminated the man with his flashlight and identified himself as a police officer, the man reportedly fled on foot.  The suspect was apprehended following a brief chase. Athens-Clarke County Police on Friday arrested a homeless man they suspect has been stealing liquor from downtown bars.  Officers conducted surveillance at one of the prior incident locations, according to a news release, and they observed an individual in the area who had previously been identified as a potential suspect. Robb Little Ware, 45, was taken into custody and, after talking with detectives, he was charged with loitering and prowling and possession of burglary tools, police said. Members of the Northeast Georgia Drug Task Force on Thursday executed a search warrant at a residence on Northcrest Drive. According to a police, the action was in response to citizen complaints. A undisclosed quantity of marijuana was seized along with a hand gun, scale, and cash, police said. Corby L. Davenport, 42, of Colbert, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, violation of parole and failure to appear.  Madison County also placed a hold on Davenport, jail records confirmed.   An Athens-Clarke County Police officer on patrol on Wednesday afternoon spotted suspicious activity at a house he knew was vacant and wound up arresting a man on a burglary charge. According to police, the officer noticed a vehicle in the driveway of the Boley Drive residence and then saw a man exit the house carrying several items. Paper towels, a phone base charger, pliers, a screw driver, a bass drum pedal, a record player, a turntable, a drum set, a music stand, a jewelry box, and jewelry from the residence were recovered. Athens-Clarke County Police Officers on Tuesday were called to investigate multiple reports of burglaries and thefts.  Here's a summary of those calls: A Magnolia Street residence was entered sometime between 8 a.m. on Feb. 3 and 4 p.m. on Feb. 4. A purse with contents valued at $13 was stolen. A resident of Camelot Drive said someone burglarized her home sometime between 7:30 and 11 a.m. on Feb. 5. An Athens man is facing a felony theft charge after police say they caught him driving a stolen moped Monday night. An officer says the 30-year-old failed to stop for a stop sign at College Avenue and Cleveland Avenue around 11 p.m., according to a news release.  The officer learned the driver did not have a license and a check of the moped's identification number revealed the it had been reported stolen in South Carolina, the release stated. A woman reported to Athens-Clarke County Police on Monday that while she was sitting in her car, which was parked at a convenience store on Commerce Road, a man robbed her at gunpoint. According to a news release, the woman had just taken some medication around 5 p.m. when a man known to her approached and asked if she was going to give or sell him some of the medication. The woman told the man no and he walked away, the release states. He then went to a truck, returned to her car and pointed a gun at her, she told police.  The robber grabbed a purse with the medications inside and fled in a …
Athens-Clarke County Police officers Sunday were called to Pauldoe Street to investigate two reports of burglaries. One home was burglarized sometime between 2:30 and 11:35 p.m.  A video game console, game, jewelry, MP3 player, and book bag were stolen. The items are collectively valued at $295. Another home was entered between sometime between 5:30 and 11:20 p.m.  Nothing appeared to be missing in that case.
