To celebrate Black History Month, the Athens Welcome Center and Classic City Tours is offering an African American History Tour with tour guide Rosa Thurmond. Mrs. Thurmond is a native Athenian with enlightening and inspirational stories to share. The tour will cover important sites including the Morton Theatre, First A.M.E. Church, Newtown, and Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery. The tour departs from the Athens Welcome Center at 2:00 Saturday, February 16th. Tickets are $20. Call 706-353-1820 for reservations.
