 “Dancing with the Athens Stars” has attracted and entertained thousands of people and surpassed all expectations in fundraising netting over $425,000 since its inception in 2008.  Funds raised support services ranging from emergency shelter to long-term housing to counseling and a new teen texting line.

10 community standouts, "our stars" have been selected by the production team or the general public through the People's Choice contest.  Each “star” was paired with a dance instructor in October, and the teams have been working since then to develop a dance to fit the star,s talents and abilities as well as be entertaining!  They are all vying for the top two prizes “Best Dancer” and the “Most Money Raised”. Team 1: John Bateman and Rachel Williams; Team 2: Johnetta Barnett and Amanda Carrithers; Team 3: Melanie Ford and Alex Bo-o; Team 4 Jackie Bishoff and Joseph Stunzi; Team 5 Chuck Dowdle and Natalie Cox; Team 6: Charlie Maddox and Barb Benson; Team 7 SJ Ursrey and LaDarius Thomas; Team 8: Emily Garrison and Oonagh Benson; Team 9: Jamey Loftin and Genie Wiggins; Team 10: Brett Atchley and Cassidy Carson.  This year's lineup features the most diverse array of dance styles ever, from ballroom and Latin to hip hop, Irish dance, and a martial arts routine set to music.
