DESCRIPTION:UGA College of Veterinary Medicine student organization hosts
  annual benefit auction\n&nbsp\;\nAthens\, Ga.&ndash\; The University of
  Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine&rsquo\;s Student Chapter of the 
 American Veterinary Medical Association (SCAVMA) is hosting a benefit au
 ction in the Grand Hall of the UGA Tate Student Center on Friday\, Feb. 
 15\, beginning at 7 p.m. &nbsp\;The evening will include dinner\, a live
  and silent auction\, and other activities. This auction\, the biggest f
 undraiser for SCAVMA\, will provide support for veterinary students who 
 are pursuing advanced degrees through the UGA College of Veterinary Medi
 cine.\n&nbsp\;\nItems collected for the auction this year include: a var
 iety of artwork and handmade items\; karate and surfing lessons\; gift c
 ards and gift baskets\; several packages for entertainment events and at
 tractions with hotel stays.\n&nbsp\;\nAdmission to the auction includes 
 dinner\, drinks\, and live entertainment. Tickets are $25 if purchased i
 n advance\, or $30 if purchased at the door. Advance tickets may be purc

  enhance student learning while enabling the UGA College of Veterinary M
 edicine to better serve the Athens community. Additionally\, SCAVMA spon
 sors seminars\, speakers\, conferences\, and learning opportunities that
  enable students to enhance their education outside of the classroom. SC
 AVMA also provides annual scholarships for outstanding veterinary studen
 ts\, funds student veterinary projects that serve the Athens community\,
  and SCAVMA donates thousands of dollars each year to the UGA Veterinary
  Teaching Hospital.\n&nbsp\;\nThe UGA College of Veterinary Medicine\, f
 ounded in 1946\, is dedicated to training future veterinarians\, to cond
 ucting research related to animal and human diseases\, and to providing 
 veterinary services for animals and their owners.&nbsp\; Research effort
 s are aimed at enhancing the quality of life for animals and people\, im
 proving the productivity of poultry and livestock\, and preserving a hea
 lthy interface between wildlife and people in the environment they share
 .&nbsp\; The college enrolls 102 students each fall out of more than 800

 \, built in 1979\, serves more than 18\,000 patients per year in one of 
 the smallest teaching hospitals in the United States.&nbsp\; The college
  is currently working to raise $25 million toward building a new Veterin
 ary Medical Learning Center\, which will include a new teaching hospital
  as well as classrooms and laboratories that will allow for the educatio
