DESCRIPTION:&nbsp\;\nAvid Bookshop and local storytelling organization Ra
 bbit Box are sponsoring a workshop for aspiring or experienced storytell
 ers. The workshop will be led by Regi Carpenter\, an award-winning story
 teller from Ithaca\, New York who has been the featured performer at top
  storytelling festivals around the country. She has held a residency at 
 the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough\, Tennessee and in
  2012 won first place at MassMouth\, one of the most competitive storyte
 lling slams in the country.&nbsp\;\nShe received the J.J. Reneaux Award 
 in 2008 from the National Storytelling Network\; Reneaux was an exceptio
 nal and beloved Athens-area storyteller who passed away in 2000.\nRabbit
  Box started its monthly storytelling events in Athens in the spring of 
 2012 to draw together disparate parts of the community through the simpl
 e-but-strong thread of storytelling. Stories have focused on topics such
  as &ldquo\;Broken Open&rdquo\; and &ldquo\;On the Road.&rdquo\; Free co
 aching is available to people interested in telling a story\, and the wo
 rkshop with Regi Carpenter is another opportunity to tune up a story tha
 t has been rattling around in someone&rsquo\;s mind and memory.\nThe liv
 ely\, hands-on workshop will be held January 28th from 7 to 9 PM at the 
 Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Hall at 780 Timothy Road in Athens. Th
 e fee is a sliding scale ($10 to $20). Participants should bring a noteb
 ook and pen or pencil.\nPat Priest\, one of the Rabbit Box organizers\, 
 said\, &ldquo\;We&rsquo\;re bringing Regi to Athens to help people think
  through how to shape their memories into interesting narratives. She&rs
 quo\;s an award-winning performance artist as well\, so we know particip
 ants will gain new skills for bringing their stories to life.&rdquo\;\nA

 or. Rachel Watkins\, in charge of events and PR at Avid\, proudly recall
 s that the very first Rabbit Box was held at Avid. &ldquo\;We needed an 
 active and thriving storytelling community in Athens. Rabbit Box has fil
 led a void\, and we&rsquo\;re so grateful to support their efforts.&rdqu

 ticipants will feel more confident about performing at a Rabbit Box even
 t sometime.&rdquo\;\nFor the January Rabbit Box story-telling session at

 Resolution&rdquo\; on January 16th\, a Wednesday\, at 7 PM. Tickets are
