2013 Miss University of Georgia Outstanding Teen is Named

Courtney Nicole Grap, 16, a junior at Dacula High School, has been named Miss University of Georgia Outstanding Teen for 2013. 

Grap will be crowned at the 2013 Miss University of Georgia Scholarship Pageant on Jan. 19 and will compete in the Miss Georgia Outstanding Teen Competition in Columbus in late spring 2013.

Grap is the daughter of Suzie and Jeff Grap of Auburn. Her older sister Rachel is a student at UGA. 

Grap served as a member of the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team and has participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Dacula High School Advanced Gold Women’s Chorus. She is a varsity football cheerleader and is also secretary of the DHS student body.

According to a University of Georgia press release, "Grap is heavily involved in community service through the Relay for Life organization. She supports a platform titled 'Go Bare for a Cure,' which encourages high school girls to pull their hair back in a ponytail and wear no makeup to school one day a month to raise awareness of breast cancer. In her spare time she has volunteered more than 1,300 community service hours to reach out to additional organizations such as Special Olympics and the Salvation Army."
 
The Miss UGA Outstanding Teen is designed for young women ages 13 to 17 and is affiliated with the Miss UGA Scholarship Pageant. The Outstanding Teen is chosen by pageant directors rather than being selected through a competition.
