Animal Control Report: 10 Opossums, 2 Horses Among Impounded Animals

Athens-Clarke County Animal Control responded to 51 calls last week, according to its weekly media release:

·       28 reports of dogs running at large

·       10 reports of animal neglect

·       4 requests for cat transport

·       3 reports of seriously injured animals

·       2 reports of livestock at large

·       2 reports of animal bites

·       1 report of seriously sick animal

·       1 agency assist

·       0 citations were issued for local Animal Control ordinance violations

·       20 warnings issued

Animal Control impounded 53 animals — 25 dogs, 16 cats, 10 opossums, 2 horses. Seven dogs and 1 cats were adopted, 4 dogs, 2 cats and 2 horses were reclaimed, and 5 dogs and 4 cats were turned over to shelters/rescue groups.
