Animal Control Report: 46 Calls, 37 Animals Impounded Last Week

Athens-Clarke County Animal Control responded to 46 calls last week, according to its weekly media release:

• 16 reports of dogs running at large
• 12 reports of animal neglect
• 5 reports of seriously injured animals
• 4 reports of barking dogs
• 2 reports of animal bites
• 2 reports of trapped animals
• 2 reports of seriously sick animals
• 2 requests for cat transport
• 1 report of a trapped animal
• 1 report of livestock at large
• 0 citations were issued for local Animal Control ordinance violations
• 21 warnings issued

Animal Control impounded 37 animals — 16 dogs, 18 cats, 3 opossum. Eleven dogs and 2 cats were adopted, 3 dogs reclaimed, and 2 dogs, 10 cats and 3 opossum were turned over to shelters/rescue groups.
