Animal Control Report: 47 Animals Impounded Last Week

Athens-Clarke County Animal Control responded to 61 calls last week, according to its weekly media release:

• 34 reports of dogs running at large
• 8 reports of animal neglect
• 7 reports of animal bites
• 4 reports of seriously injured animals
• 4 neighborhood complaints
• 2 reports of barking dogs
• 1 report of a trapped animal
• 1 report of a seriously sick animal
• 0 citations were issued for local Animal Control ordinance violations
• 22 warnings issued

Animal Control impounded 47 animals — 29 dogs, 16 cats, one raccoon, one opossum. Four dogs and one cat were adopted, five dogs and one cat reclaimed, and 11 dogs and nine cats turned over to shelters/rescue groups.
