Athens Today -- Apr 19

Tuesday brings joy to bookworms, sports-loving teens and hungry students.

1. Chic-Fil-A on Alps Rd. invites students to enjoy a Buy One Get One Free entrée tonight from 5pm-8pm with a student ID.

2. Registration is open for the Heroes and Champions summer camp, which takes place July 7-10 at the Ramsey Student Center and Recreational Sports Facilities. The camp is open to boys and girls ages 8-18. The sports represented include football, basketball and cheerleading.

3. Author Barry Lopez will speak on “The Writer and Social Responsibility” tonight at 7pm at . is hosting this event as part of their third annual Earth Day celebration. A reception will follow the reading with music provided by Hawk Proof Rooster, a local folk music band.

4. , an independent bookstore on Clayton St., hosts book club meetings and book signing events every month. Tonight’s group is Athens PLACE, Promoting Local Agricultural and Cultural Experience and, the book they will be discussing is Deeply Rooted: Unconventional Farming in the Age of Agribusiness by Lisa Hamilton. 5. kicks off tomorrow, April 20, with Phaedra Parks of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” hosting a “Sip and See” at the Foundry Park Inn and Spa at 11am.
