Athens Today: August 29

Monday is here again...with sunny skies, a high of 94 and 0% chance of rain.

1. Kids who need help with their homework can join UGA students and other volunteers at the Mon-Fri after school from 3:30pm-5:30pm. This time is free and open to any child or teen who needs a little extra help completing their homework assignments.

2. Children ages 1-3 and their caregivers can enjoy at the Library this morning at 10:30am. Tonight, children of all ages can come dressed in their pajamas for at 7pm.

3. The is holding a at the today from 2:30pm-7:30pm. All blood types are needed but there is a critical need for type β€œO”. Call 1-800-REDCROSS to schedule an appointment.

4.The Athens Community Council on Aging offers classes in Ballroom Dancing every second and fourth Monday of the month at the Winterville Depot. The classes are taught by dance experts Ron and Barbara Putman, who provide easy to follow instructions to help you learn how to fox trot, waltz and swing. The cost is $10 per person to attend.

5. Athens-Clarke County officials will hold a Reapportionment Forum in the Mell Auditorium of tomorrow at 6pm. The purpose of the forum is to give Athens residents an opportunity to view maps of the proposed new Athens-Clarke County Commission districts, and it will consist of a brief presentation followed by questions and answers. This is the second of three forums, the third and final one will be held Wednesday, August 31 at .
