Glad Monday is here so I can recover from the weekend.....

 

Forks Over Knives. That’s the title of today’s free film, the 3rd in the Animal Voices Film Festival, sponsored by the UGA student group Speak out for Species. The movie examines the idea that a diet based on animal products and processed food is responsible for most of today’s health problems. Showtime is 7:30pm in Room 102 of the Miller Learning Center, at the intersection of Baxter and Lumpkin.

March 5th is the application deadline for the spring market of the Athens Indie Craftstravagenzaa. It will be held on April 28-29 at Ben’s Bikes, on the corner or Broad and Pope streets.

Lay in milk, eggs, flour and butter and whip up your pancakes for Shrove Tuesday. You can also find pancakes at IHOP, of course, The Grit and Mama’s Boy, among others.

Cancer survivor Darrell Huckaby, a syndicated columnist carried by the Athens Banner Herald, is the honorary chair of the Saturday’s “Boule on Bourbon Street.” Held at the Classic Center, the event is a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society. The Mardi Gras-themed party raises money to help patients and families facing cancer and to fund research and educational activities.

Worrying about what to do with your children during Spring Break? The Botanical Garden of Georgia is offering a three-day mini camp for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children will explore the fields, streams and woods in the garden, from 8:30am until 2:30pm, Monday--Wednesday, March 12 to 14th. You can register on-line.
