Athens Today - July 3

These are the dog days.

1. Leaf and Limb pickup will be in Zone 5 this week, which includes the Chadd’s Walk, Forest Hills, Oak Grove, and Oconee Heights neighborhoods.

2. Yoga Sprouts is a yoga program designed for kids, encompassing a wide variety of classes geared toward different age groups, from toddlers to teens. Yoga has many healthy benefits, such as increasing strength, flexibility and confidence while reducing hyperactivity. Today, instructor Rachel Greb will be at from 1pm-2pm for a Family Yoga class with a 4th of July theme.

3. Today at , get back to your roots at the featuring the Packway Handle Band, Patterson Hood and Mountain Heart. Many other local favorites will perform, with the Solstice Sisters kicking it off at 1:30pm and Packway Handle shutting it down at 11pm. It is an all ages show with music on indoor and outdoor stages and an artist market. Tickets are $20 and children 12 and under are free!

4. If you park Downtown, remember that and times have changed. It now costs 75¢ per hour (rather than 50¢) to park on the street, and hours for paid on-street parking have been extended to 10pm. You will now be able to pay for as many as 4 hours at a time after 6pm, instead of the previous 2-hour limit, so if you are enjoying a meal or movie you won’t have to worry about feeding the meter. Parking on Sunday is still free.

5. As usual, the first half hour in the is free, with each additional hour costing $1.50. The daily rate is $8, except on Sunday when it is totally free!
