Here are 5 Things to make your Thursday extra spay-shul!

1. You can now see the newest books and DVDs available at the online. You can rent “Inception” or “Glee: Season 1” and others for free! Just make sure it is available by visiting the website and if what you want has been checked out already, you may place a hold on it.

2. Looking for a great way to enjoy Mother Nature today? Join the Naturalist’s Walk at Sandy Creek Nature Center from 10am-11am. Bring a camera and binoculars for this guided tour through the Nature’s Centers grounds. The tour is free, open to all ages and no registration is required.

3. The new and improved Georgia Theatre has scheduled a two-week long Grand Opening music series August 1-14. Tickets go on sale June 6. They are still counting on donations to finish the massive job of rebuilding, and lucky for you, all donations are tax-deductible.

4. Athens Transit has scheduled two public hearings for today to discuss the Mayor’s proposed budget recommendations as well as public comment and inquiry. The hearings will be held in the North Lobby of the Multimodal Transportation Center from 2pm-3pm and 6pm-7pm. Copies of the proposed transit service reductions and changes will be available for review.

5. MACORTS, the Madison Athens-Clarke Oconee Regional Transportation Study, has also scheduled several public hearings on the topic of the FY2012-2015 Transportation Improvement Program, a document that outlines transportation improvements over the next six years.
