Happy Monday!

At last: all you parents of public school children and supporters of public school in Athens will get to speak your minds in a public meeting on Tuesday at 5pm at Alps Road Elementary. Come and tell Clarke County education officials why you believe the priorities are out of whack or why you think they have proposed a great budget document. Now's your chance.

The Clarke County School System ends its academic year on Wednesday. It seems too early until you remember the children started school in early August.

The Mayor and ACC Commission meet on Thursday for their agenda setting meeting at 7pm in City Hall. There, you will have a chance to comment on Mayor Denson's proposed budget,

On Wednesday at 7pm, there will be a panel discussion on bullying after a 5pm showing of the documentary, , at . Panel members include community experts Andy Horne, Ernest Hardaway, Robbie Hooker and Dawn Myers, among others. The event is sponsored by the UGA College of Education and the Public School Risk Institute.

Like to fish? The ACC Department of Leisure Services is sponsoring Family Fishing on Thursday, May 24, from 6 to 7:30pm. The program is for all ages and takes place in the hidden Claypit Pond. You don't have to bring anything--bait, poles, and tips are provided. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday before each program. Call 706- 613-3615. It costs $7 for Athens-Clarke County families.
