Athens Today: May 17

Thursday brings news of budget hearings, literary pursuits and big catfish!

1. The Mayor and ACC Commission have their agenda setting meeting tonight at 7pm in City Hall. This offers a chance for the public to comment on

 2. During the month of May, the folks at Sandy Creek Park are challenging you to catch the biggest catfish. Stop by the gate on your way out, and a staff member will measure your catch. The winner will receive a free annual family park permit. 

3. The ACC Library's popular Summer Reading Program begins today. Kids can sign up at the Children's Desk or online, read books and earn prizes!

4. The meets today at Full Bloom from 10am-12pm. Come as you are, meet other mamas and enjoy warm reassurance and non-judgmental support. 

5. Stillpoint, UGA's undergraduate literary magazine, will present the 2012 issue at this evening at 6:30pm. Contributors to the magazine will read their poetry, prose and nonfiction to the backdrop of a mini-art show featuring some of the magazine's submissions. The staff will provide free copies of the magazine, announce the new editor and provide information about joining the staff next year.
