Summertime Friday 5 Things!

1. The USPS has announced it will close and consolidate nearly 250 post offices, and Athens' will be one of them. 

2. Do you love ART? Well then, visit the for the FLOAT exhibition and, the UpCycle exhibition at . 

3. Visit Sandy Creek Park tonight for a moonlit canoe ride on Lake Chapman, from 9p-11p. The cost for ACC residents is $5 if you bring your own boat, or $8 to rent a boat. The Friday Night Paddles events will happen every other Friday throughout the summer. Ages 12 and up are welcome to attend, and you must call first to pre-register (706-613-3631).

4. The Athens Mothers' Center welcomes visitors and new members all year round, but three times a year they host a special open house. Current members will provide a potluck brunch, so come as you are and enjoy the company of other mamas, today from 9:30am-11:30am!

5. Today, the Broad River Outpost is hosting a benefit for the Broad River Watershed Association, a non-profit, regional land trust dedicated to the protection and management of the Broad River and its watershed in Northeast Georgia. There will be a party with live music and kayak races. Admission will cost a mere $5, and you should contact BRO for information on reservations and transportation.
