Only a few more days to get those costumes ready!

There’s a treat in store at this weekend, but no tricks. Jackie Elsner, the former children’s librarian at the , will be there at 3 pm. She will host a very spooky story time. Bring your huggy to ward off the shivers!

Do you bike? Want to have a sayso about how Athens’ bike plans take the road? If you haven’t been able to make it to one of the recent public hearings about bikes in Athens, don’t worry. There are two online surveys you can complete. A UGA graduate student is working with the to improve and expand our city’s bicycle route plan. You can access her survey here. UGA has hired Koons Environmental Design to help them on a bike study. Their survey can be found here.

 We all know what a greenway is, but what about a blueway? That’s a greenway but in water. You would be able to paddle along with easy places to put in and take out your water craft. The UGA College of Environment and Design will hold a design charrette this Halloween weekend to flesh out ideas on a blue for the North Oconee River between Whitehall Mill and downtown. The university is working with a lot of different groups on this one on a three-day forum. Things start today at 6 p.m. at the UGA Interim Medical Partnership Building at 279 Williams St. (which is the old O’Malley’s). It will wrap up there at 4 p.m. on Sunday.  If you’re making Halloween plans, and it rains on Monday, don’t worry. Georgia Square Mall is offering free family fun from 5 to 7 p.m. on Halloween. Many of the stores will be handing out candy to trick or treaters. There will be other spooky fun as well, officials say.
