Bascoe Jackson Community Garden

Volunteer workday and dedication of the garden at Hill Chapel Baptist Church

Saturday marked the dedication of a joint project of and the -- the community garden adjacent to the church on West Hancock Avenue. The garden had been planted on a tract provided by the Rev. Bascoe Jackson behind Jackson's Upholstery Shop, and part of the first harvest was served at lunch following the dedication ceremony.

Charles I am so glad you covered this! Rev.Jackson is truly a pillar of the community. Is he still living?

Yes, Meg. He was very much present at the dedication (see photo), and I understand he's still actively involved in his upholstery business as well.

Charles, this is obviously the son of the Bascoe Jackson that my mother and I used to uphoslter our furniture WAY back "when."

I'll have to plead ignorance. (Well, I guess I don't HAVE to, since that's self-evident.) And Google wasn't much help. I just met the Bascoe Jackson in the photos on Saturday, and didn't hear any references to his being a Jr.
