Books for Keeps offers Books for Sale

The non-profit group will buy new books for Athens school children.

Today is the day: the Books for Keeps Book Sale begins.

By buying books for yourself, you’re helping the Books for Keeps Team purchase books for young children in Athens who might not own even one.

The sale will be in the space that housed Southern Comforts, in the Stiles Building on Lumpkin Street in Five Points. Never went to Southern Comforts? Don’t worry, the Local Jam is next door.

The non-profit Books for Keeps wants to raise enough money to buy 12 books for every child in our public elementary schools by May 2012.

Research has shown that reading—specifically, reading during the summer when school isn’t in session---can help spur academic success.

The books for sale include everything from biographies to cookbooks and best sellers. The prices are low, but the inventory is great. You'll have the chance to persue thousands of volumes, some signed by the author!
