Burned Out by Fire, Family Needs Help
A child and her family lost their home a month ago, and need help making a house into a furnished home.
Destiny is a fourth grader participating in Athens Tutorial Program at First Presbyterian Church. A month ago Destiny's home was completely destroyed by fire. Fortunately, Destiny, her parents, and her brothers escaped without injury, but the family lost virtually all of their possessions.
After almost a month in temporary housing, the family was able to move into a house last week. The Red Cross, together with teachers and friends at the children's schools, supplied beds, a table, and basic kitchen supplies, but other furnishings are needed to make the house a safe and comfortable residence.
Sally Vandiver, who is Destiny's tutor, has gathered bed and bath linens, and other tutors are also making contributions. If you happen to have a dresser--or two or three or four (right now they have none)--that you would be willing to donate to this family, please contact Sally (706-549-9785), Dianne Penny Wilson, Peggy Reigle, or Richard Lane. You may also call Judy Burch or Candice Jenkins in the church office (706-543-4338). Monetary contributions would also be welcome, of course.
Please help this family re-establish their home!
