Business Owners: Claim Your Athens Patch Listing!

It's easy, it's fun and it can help get the word out.

Before was launched in March 2011, freelancers ventured into local businesses, stores and shops in Athens to collect and verify information for our directory.

Now, almost a year later, Patch Places is a spot where users can find descriptions, hours of operation, accepted payment methods, and much more information for businesses around town. Also for churches, non-profits, schools and other agencies. If it has a door, it's probably in the directory.

Local owners get bonuses when they claim their listings.

To do so, visit the business directory (see the “Places” tab in the menu bar above), search for your business, company, church, firm, shop or store, and then click the "Claim It!" link below the photos. A form asks for name, contact information, and proof of ownership.

Within a few days, someone from Patch will contact you to make sure you are who you say you are, and then you'll be approved as the owner. You'll be able to upload more photos, update information, sign up to be notified when people post reviews and more. You can tell readers about special events or speakers at church, or fund-raisers for your youth group.

Problems or questions? Email me, Rebecca.McCarthy@patch.com. We'll sort through your problems and make it right. If your business isn't in the directory, please let me know so we can get you included.
