CCI Greenheart Announces Two-Week Summer ESL Programs in Athens

CCI Greenheart, a 28-year-old non-profit exchange organization, is seeking local partners to assist with two-week summer English immersion programs for Chinese students. 

 “First and foremost, we are looking for a venue to hold our ESL classes for 20-25 students," said Deby Sorensen, Area Coordinator for CCI Greenheart.

“Last year’s event was so successful, the partner organization in China has asked for two 2-week programs in Athens this summer! Not only did we have amazing host families, but local organizations and businesses assisted in the cultural aspect of the learning experience. From making their own creations at Dunkin Donuts in Watkinsville to learning how to swing on a trapeze at Canopy Studio, these kids got a great impression of America and a welcomed introduction to Southern Hospitality. We are very grateful to each family, business and organization who helped to make the experience so rich and full for these impressionable kids,” Sorensen said.

Two groups will travel from Beijing, China to live with local host families for two weeks while they learn English and witness American culture and volunteerism.  One of the things which sets CCI Greenheart apart from all the other high school exchange programs is the social initiative. 

 “Students volunteer a minimum of one afternoon, giving back to the local community which has embraced them,” said Sorensen. “Last year the students partnered with the youth group at The Connecting Point to distribute a truckload of groceries at ACTS, the emergency food pantry in Bogart.”

Here's what's needed:

Volunteer families to host 1-2 Chinese student(s) for a two week period (July 15-29 and/or Aug 5-19).

Classroom facilities for ESOL (tables, chairs and restrooms) – we supply all the materials.

Organization or Church Van/vehicle and licensed/insured volunteer from organization to drive for group outings
