Great Escapes - The Melting Point and Foundry Park Inn and Spa

The Melting Point is a wonderful place to kick up your heels with your honey. And it is right next door to a spa!

A relatively new venue, open since 2005, this über cool date-night hang-out spot is housed in the old Athens Foundry, where the UGA Arches and the Double-Barreled Cannon were crafted, way back in the 19th century. The building itself has character that speaks through exposed brick masonry and 22-foot-high beams in the ceiling. There is a mezzanine, balcony and patio, allowing for many seating options even when there is a large crowd.

The location of this music hall is supreme. It is right on the edge of Downtown Athens and attracts a slightly more sophisticated clientele (i.e., old enough to imbibe freely) than other concert venues.  The adjacent Foundry Park Inn and Spa offers you and your sweetie the chance to indulge in a hot stone massage, sugar scrub or body wrap before you enjoy a cold beer and delicious meal at The Melting Point.

The menu offers hamburgers, fries and onion rings, as well as shrimp and scallop ceviche, Terrapin Shepherd’s Pie and several vegan options.  The price ranges from $10-$18 for entrees and $7-$9 for appetizers. For drinks, you can choose from about a dozen beers on tap and an impressive wine list.

Tonight, enjoy a performance by Geoff Achison and the Souldiggers with Randall Bramblett. Doors open at 6pm for food and drink and the show starts at 8:30pm.
