Jared Bailey Leaving the Helm of AthFest Educates!

In addition to AthFest Educates!, Bailey has been involved in many Athens businesses and agencies.

Athens Clarke County Commissioner Jared Bailey started AthFest Educates!, the non-profit that runs AthFest and helps further music appreciation and performance in area schools. Come January, he will leave the organization, after 18 years, according to a story in Flagpole Magazine.

The board of directors told the publication that Bailey intends to shift his focus to public service and business and family interests. Bailey's Commission seat is up as well next year if he wishes to run for re-election.

AthFest Educate's AthHalf Half Marathon now attracts thousands of participants, and has raised more than $150,000 to date for music and arts education.

According to the ACC website, Bailey professional experience also includes:

  • Manager and Co-owner, The 40 Watt Club
