Ted's Most Best is Mostly Finished

A long-time Athens restauranteur opens a new eatery.

Those of us who keep all comings and goings in downtown Athens near and dear to our hearts have watched expectantly as construction has gone on at the former Snow Tire storage facility on West Washington Street.

Jessica Greene and Jay Totty of have kept details on their new restaurant venture close to the chest. Called Ted's Most Best, it's slated to open in mid-June. It's sure to become a fast favorite place to grab a bite to eat, especially for those living in and near downtown. The new place is beside and across from

Unlike the Grit, Ted's Most Best will not be vegetarian.

"We're concentrating on a simple menu of pizzas, paninis and salads," said Greene, whose partner Totty is the long-time Grit general manager. "Our homemade desserts will be made in-house, like we do at The Grit."

The new restaurant is in a renovated storage facility unused for at least 30 years. Its location is exciting for Athenians who frequent popular nearby watering holes like and .

A nice beer and wine selection should make this an instant hot spot. A great patio will provide outdoor seating, allowing patrons to listen to music coming from nearby music clubs. Let's all hope Ted's Most Best is open late for those of us on our way home from a favorite Athens pastime: hearing live music.
