UGA Habitat Raises $10,000 to Help Build a Home

Since 1994, UGA Habitat has sponsored 10 houses.

The University of Georgia chapter of Habitat for Humanity has raised $10,000 and donated it to the Athens affiliate to be put towards building a home.  Through events like the Turkey Trot 5K and Gift Wrapping over the holidays, UGA Habitat is able to make a sizeable contribution to its local affiliate.  Since 1994, UGA Habitat has raised funds to sponsor 10 houses in the Athens area.  They have also provided and organized hundreds of volunteers for the Athens Area Habitat for Humanity, who are currently completing construction on their 76th house in the community.

The money raised by UGA Habitat will fund a renovation on a house that Athens Area Habitat is going to transform into an affordable home for low income individuals.  As part of the AAHFH’s neighborhood revitilization efforts and their ReNew Athens initiative, the organization is committed to providing simple, decent housing for the Athens community.  UGA Habitat is organizing the volunteer efforts for the build, and is excited to strengthen their partnership with the local affiliate.
