Weekend Planner: Too Many Possibilities, Not Enough Time

Here is our pick of activities going on in or around Athens this weekend: from the Athens' Got Talent Pre-show to Tim White's Burnin' Down the House Party.

Why Go: All contestants in the 2011 Athens’ Got Talent Show are invited to perform onstage at Buffalo's to gear up for the upcoming show this fall to benefit Women to the World.

Where/When: Start at Rocket Field in Watkinsville on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Why Go: Enjoy a beautiful 62-mile ride, rolling from Watkinsville through Bishop, Bostwick, Fairplay, Rutledge, Madison, Greshamville, and the Oconee National Forest while supporting the work of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Athens

Pricing: $40

Where/When: Piedmont Park in Atlanta on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Why Go: The artist’s market will feature 200 of the country's finest painters, photographers, sculptors, leather and metal craftsmen, glass blowers and more. The festival will also feature hands on activities for the entire family, food, music and entertainment.

Pricing: Free admission

Where/When: on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Why Go: PBS TV’s favorite family band will perform their award-winning original pop songs at the historic Morton Theatre and a portion of the proceeds will support GPB-TV.

Pricing: $17 adults and $15 children ages 13 and younger in advance; $22 adults and $17 children ages 13 and younger at the door; free children under 2

Where/When: Melting Point on Sunday at 6 p.m.

Why Go: Michael Guthrie will start the night solo, followed by the Nathan Sheppard Band, the Rick Fowler Band and Strawberry Flats with special guests Randall Bramblett and Davis Causey. All of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the White family, who lost almost all of their possessions in a house fire in August.
