Whiz Kid: Madeleine Ingle

Acting, writing, dancing: this rising fourth grader is definitely one interesting Athenian!

Each week, Athens Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens, and sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

Name: Madeleine Ingle

Age: 9

Grade: 4th

School: Timothy Road Elementary

Accomplishments: The gregarious middle child of Mary Anne O'Neal and David Ingle, Maddie Ingle just finished her second play with . This rising fourth grader at loves theater and has "lots of cool friends who act with me." (Check out Athens Little Playhouse's summer camp schedule here.)

Maddie has played the piano for over two years and often composes her own pieces that she performs at recitals. She loves to dance and one of her favorite things to do in Athens is go to at Memorial Park.

Maddie's strong artistic abilities manifest themselves in many ways. She's an award-winning author and has won awards for her writing since kindergarten. Maddie loves to write outside. Favorite writing spots are at the beach or on her front porch. Writing is par for the course in Maddie's family. Father David Ingle is Assistant Editor for and Mom Mary Anne teaches English at the University of Georgia.

Madeleine is definitely an artist and according to Mary Anne, "is always learning something new," whether learning how to French braid or how to make caramel. Maddie knows how to finger knit and really wants a sewing machine so she can make her own clothes.

What's a perfect day of eating in Athens for Maddie? Her answers came quickly: Breakfast of french toast at , a cheese ravioli lunch at on Baxter Street and noodles with tofu at for supper. Maddie declared herself, "almost a vegetarian" though she likes some meat.

Key to Awesomeness: Maddie enjoys helping others, especially younger kids. This artistic Athenian would like to become a kindergarten teacher. We bet she'll be teaching her students to finger knit while also encouraging them to dance and write!
