Name: Tiger Liliana Villaveces

Age: 12

Grade: 7th

School: Clarke Middle School

Accomplishments: Tiger Villaveces has three siblings all bearing family names. Her name, however, is an ancestral name of a different sort. Tiger was born in the year of the Tiger, which is something she shares with both her dad and grandmother. There aren't many downsides to such an unusual name; Tiger always finds it fun to see the second glance she gets when she meets new people.

Tiger's family are purveyors of Empanadas and Other Favorite Things and sell their delicious treats at the Athens Farmers Market. Parents Juan and Stephanie Villaveces have three other children along with Tiger: Juan, Keeko, and Alvaro.

Tiger has always been an animal lover. Viewing the film Meet Your Meat, however, pushed her to make a significant life change and give up meat. She has been a vegetarian for the past six years. Although she doesn't have many friends who are vegetarian, Tiger can easily finds lots of exciting food choices in Athens and loves tofu and cherry pie.

Tiger plays piano, draws, sculpts, and dabbles in pottery with her friend Holly Willams from . Her main interest is writing. She especially enjoyed Whitney Slider's English Language Arts class last year at . Along with pursuing her writing, Tiger takes a lot of photographs and is eager to create more photo journalism.

A few reasons Tiger is happy to call Athens home are annual events like , the , and the holiday parade downtown. A music enthusiast with eclectic taste, Tiger listed some favored bands as the Gorillaz, The Strokes, and Queen. She also likes hometown favorites R.E.M. and The Athens Band.

If Tiger has free time in Athens, you'll find her downtown at , Dynamite, or . After shopping, she may grab a grilled cheese at which is one of her favorite places to eat.

Key to Awesomeness: While Tiger does think about leaving Athens one day, this whiz kid thinks no matter how far she travels, she'll always call Athens home.
